I have a BX900R UPS and it fried my external "e-SATA" HDD
the plug-in goes fzxzzzt and sparks anytime I touch the cord plugged into the back of the UPS,
and the power drops from that plug until I wiggle the plug back into place really a sloppy fit
- not good for Hard Disks to be powered up and down and up like that especially while saving, moving or copying files
- if the plug isn't TIGHT don't put the unit into service, take it back or get an RMA to return it immediately or you will have to pay to ship it back as well as lose any damaged equipment,
- I didn't know the outlet plugs were bad until I tried to use them the other day

the plugs are so loose that touching the other end of the 6 foot cord causes them to spark and make noise and power out and on and out and I need to wiggle it back into place to get it to stay on;
I paid $95.00 for the first one, and then had to pay $51.00 to ship it back because it was way too hot to begin with, and then the battery went bad after one full discharge,
if I have to send this back again and pay another $51.00 to ship it, I could have bought a $200.00 unit from UltraProducts with two or more times the rating and not fried my external HDD.

Hello:
This sounds like an isolated occurrence, as it is not something that I have heard of. If the UPS is acting like this I would highly recommend calling into our tech support team, and possibly getting a replacement unit. Please keep in mind also that if any equipment was damaged, these units come with an Equipment Protection Policy, so you could also submit a claim for this. I apologize for the trouble you're having!
Thank you

I have BX950MI-AZ exciting the very same problem. Took a while to figure out why my PC sometimes powered off, considering it is connected to a UPC!
