I have multiple APC BackUPS, RS, and SmartUPS units (6 total) throughout my home. Four are hooked up to PCs, one at my bedroom tv/roku/dvd, etc, and the last one is hooked to my network rack (cable modem, switch, router, etc) downstairs.
I am curious where the battery replacement date is stored. Is it stored on the APC unit, or in the powerchute software? I'd like to have the dates on each unit and was wondering if I can just take my laptop with powerchute on it around to the 2 units that aren't attached to any computers and update the battery replacement date without messing up the correct date in powerchute for the unit the laptop is usually hooked to?

I was talking about the battery pack manufacture date code on the batteries, not the date you replaced the pack in the ups

Hi Wayne,
On most of the older APC units, the Battery Replacement Date is stored in the UPS but is only accessible via the PowerChute software. Newer Smart-UPS models can have the battery replacement date updated via the LCD display, PowerChute Software or the separately sold Network Management Card. The method of accessing this information via your laptop would be fine for your two stand alone units and will not effect the laptops's normal UPS, as the battery replacement date is specific to the UPS and not the software.
