Hi experts,
as a favour to a colleague I'm administering a server remotely only.
A BX750MI has been installed and the software Powercute Serial Shutdown has been installed and configured.
My colleague asked me to disable the selftest every 14 days because none of his stuff doesn't remember how to confirm the test alarm.
I've looked to find the 'disable selftest setting' which has been mentioned in other postings in the webinterface but didn't find it.
Could someone please shed some light on me how to disable the selftest?
Thanks in advance,
Manfred

I would suggest you install Power Chute Personal Edition software. If the option to disable the self test is present give it a try. I don’t believe that will be the case for this specific unit though. 🙁
I’m unsure why your friend would want to disable the Self Test?!? As it serves an important roll in advising the user to a pending battery failure. Along with confirming the UPS is fully operational in all aspects.

Hi and thanks for your answer,
I've already tried Powerchute Busines Edition but there is no option, too. 😞
The selftest should be disabled because it is running on fridays and every 2nd friday the office is closed.
The selftest alarm sounds the same as a that from a smoke detector and chances are that other residents
in the building think that it is a fire alarm and are calling the fire departement.

As an interim fix you can try the following. Pick a specific day there will be people around say Monday. On that day remove AC Mains from the outlet. Disconnect the battery and then press and hold the power button.
The unit (may) click & beep or do nothing at all. Reconnect the battery and AC Mains. The unit should now perform the self test every 14 days from that day. 🙂
Let us know if this work around helps alleviate this issue. If so please do mark this as solved so it can help others with a similar request. 👍
NOTE: Smoke / CO detectors are specifically designed to emit a very specific frequency & tone by law. Nothing else in the consumer market is allowed to emit a similar sound in this range. If this is still a concern I would humbly suggest your client inform everyone about this very brief (14 day) self test.
