Hi,
I've just started testing my new BackUps CS 650 under Linux using the NUT software (v2.4 as installed in Debian Testing).
All appears to work well. When I pull the power out with a dummy load connected, when the UPS indicates the battery is low, the PC powers down and tells the UPS to power down the load.
However, if I then re-power the UPS, I'm expecting the load power to be reapplied once the battery recharges sufficiently. However, this is not happening.
Is this expected behaviour for this UPS?
Anyone offer any assistance?
Thanks
Andy

Ok, understood about the difference between the two.
I'm pretty sure you can configure NUT to turn off once the battery level drops down to a certain figure (I think it defaults to 10% and 2 minutes of runtime, presumably whichever comes first).
Thanks a lot for all your help, I think we can consider this answered now.

Nothing happens on the UPS. I have to push the button on the front to get it to power the load again.

It's a Back Ups CS 650. The model number is BK650EI.
The first 6 digits of the serial number are 4B1017
According to NUT:
ups.firmware: 817.v6.I
ups.firmware.aux: v6
ups.mfr.date: 2010/04/23
ups.model: Back-UPS CS 650
ups.productid: 0002
ups.vendorid: 051d
Thanks

Trying Powerchute under Windows sounds like a good idea. Presumably that will also power off the load when the battery gets low?
I'm also pursuing this with the NUT software people to see if there's anything they can help me with.
Thanks a lot for the help thus far.

Ok, I've run the test with Powerchute.
The good news is that when I re-apply power to the UPS, power is turned on to the load. The bad news is that it happens immediately. I'd expected it to wait a little time to allow the battery to charge just in case there's another power cut before the battery charges enough to sustain the load long enough for it to shutdown gracefully.
Was there a setting I missed?
Thanks
