BackUPS ES 500 Constant Alarm
I have a BackUPS ES 500 behind my entertainment center. I've got the TiVos plugged into the battery backup side, and the other equipment plugged into the surge-protection side. My wife just called me at work and in the background I can hear a high-pitched whine. I guess the BackUPS just suddenly started emitting this high-pitched scream. Anyway, I came home from work, pulled out the equipment so I could reach behind and pushed the power button on the BackUPS. All the equipment plugged into the battery backup side lost power, while the items plugged into the surge protection side continue to have power. I acknowledge that the battery probably needs replacing. However, I'm not able to do that right now. Even getting access to all the plugs in order to unplug everything and plug them into something else is going to be a major project that I won't have time for at least until the weekend. So the question is: is there a way for me to continue using the BackUPS as just a surge protector but without the battery backup feature and without the annoying high-pitched alarm?
