Hi All,
I have a Back-UPS XS 700U, connected with USB to the PC and I was successfully using it under linux with apcupsd.
The power cut detection and kill power worked perfectly until oneday it was not working any more. I check status of apcupsd and CONNLOST was the status of the connection. I went deeper and even with lsusb the device was not listed. It seemed that the device was not recognized as a USB device at all. I turned it off/On, removed USB, restarted PC and etc but still not successful even in listing with lsusb.
Fortunately, I had exactly another Back-UPS XS 700U that I ordered with the other one but never used. I unpacked the new one. connect it via USB to the Pc and without any problem it was recognised and worked properly.
So It seems the first UPS has an internal problem that it is not recognized by the PC anymore.
Anybody knows how to deep reset it? I really want to reset it to factory setting and test it again.
I think Back-UPS XS 700U is an old and cheap one. Is there any other APC UPS with USB connection that is more reliable on USB communications?
Any recommendation to have a more reliable communication with UPS ?
Best Regards,
Behnood

I have reset it just by pulling out the yellow battery connector and pushing it back in again.
After that it is recognized again as a USB device
