I have a Back-UPS XS 1300 ups that has been functioning fine for a couple of years. It has an LCD TV, Tivo, external hard-drive, and a low-power home theater PC connect to it (Well under max load)
Last week, it started having a short double chirp every few seconds, and the LCD showed battery disconnected. Battery meter still showed full. Resetting it didn't seem to do anything (everything connect to it powered off when I power-cycled it) A few days later, the battery meter shows empty and beeping persists. I saw in the FAQ the brain-dead-ing procedure so I tried that (disconnected from power and load, disconnect battery, push power button, wait 5 minutes, reconnect.) I still have empty battery meter and no protection. If I pull the A/C power, connected load goes off.
Do I have a bad battery? Anything else I can try. Not sure if this is still in warranty
model: BX1300LCD

Hi Stephen,
The BackUPS has a three-year warranty. Using the date code on your serial number it tells us that it was manufactured on the 36th week of 2007. If you have another BX1300LCD on your end you can swap out batteries to check if it would do the same thing.
I highly suggest that you call our APC Technical Support for US and Canada at 800.800.4272 to verify the warranty on your unit and if it is covered we can proceed with a replacement of either the battery or the unit.
