Hello, recently my Back-UPS XS 1300 ups has had its cooling fan run more frequently than normal. It's about 3 years old.
I've tried using canned air to blast any dust out from the fan area, but this doesn't seem to make a difference.
Are there any diagnostics I can run to see if it's a problem with cooling or the battery or something else? I'm familiar with the "braindead" procedure to reset the unit's memory, could this fix the issue or just work around it?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. ๐

Hi Jean,
Try this link: http://www.schneider-electric.us/sites/us/en/support/faq/faq_main.page?page=content&country=USโฉ=en&i...
Some of it is applicable to backs-ups. In general, as the unit gets older it might need to run the fan more often to keep it cool.

Hi Zoplax,
Do you have the exact model number of your UPS? Have you also added a new load into your UPS or have experienced any power problem in your area? For our SmartUPS UPS, the fan would run if the conditions outlined on this [APC Knowledgebase - Smart-UPS fan operation parameters|http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6672/kw/backups%20fan] is met. Some of it is also applicable for BackUPS.

I've got EXACTLY the same issue.
No added load
Almost 0% load on the display
About 120W max
Yesterday the fan has started acting up and is starting about once every 10 min for about a min each time
Quite annoying
Any idea, because your link doesn't work http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6672/kw/backups%20fan
