Back-UPS XS 1300 -- Replacement Battery Failing

I have a Back-UPS XS 1300. Two weeks ago, the device started beeping, and the battery symbol with the X in it was flashing, so I bought a new replacement battery (APCRBC109). I installed the new battery, and while the battery charge light appears as full, the battery symbol with the X still flashes. I called APC and explained the situation, and I was told that because the device wasn't working, and a new battery replacement didn't fix the issue, that the problem was with the unit itself, and they won't replace the brand new battery I bought.

While I was a little offput by the response, I would still like some tips on other troubleshooting tips I can try before I go out and buy a whole new unit. I don't have another unit, so I don't have any way to test my new battery in another unit, or to test yet another battery in the first unit. Does anyone have some steps I can try before I go out and buy another unit?

There are two ways to run a self-test on a BackUPS, we do have a software and a manual self-test. In order for you to run a software self-test, you'll need to install PowerChute Personal Edition while for the manual you can either turn off and turn on the UPS or while the UPS is on press and hold the On/I button and then you'll see the Plug icon flashing and then followed by the On Battery symbol.

Can you do a brain dead on your BackUPS? I have listed the steps below:

To brain dead a Back-ups is to purge the charge in the brain of the UPS. To do this, follow the below procedure:
1: Disconnect any attached load.
2: Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
3: Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.
4: Push and hold the ""On"" button on the UPS for 5 seconds
5: Reconnect internal battery.
6: Plug UPS in to known good power source.
7: Turn UPS on.

Did you try running another self test? Also, does the display show the battery capacity as 100 %?

I'm not sure what you mean by "running another self test". Could you explain please?

Yes, when the new battery is plugged in, it shows 100% capacity.
