Hi!
I found the documentation https://www.apc.com/salestools/EALN-7PTMAJ/EALN-7PTMAJ_R0_EN.pdf a bit unclear on some points.
1) Is there a way to test the unit, does it automatically run a test every two weeks? Will a frequent test prolong battery life?
2) What is the relevance of the two Ethernet ports? Is this a way to protect the network (edge routere) from power surges on the Internet connection?
3) To set the sensitivity the unit has to be connected to mains but has to be switched off. How do I switch off the unit?
4) The documentation suggest to not connect a laser printer (or hair dryer) to the unit. However, is it ok to connect a laser printer to the surge protected outputs?

1. Yes, you can perform a manual test. With the UPS turned on and its attached load operating as normal, push and hold the power button down for six seconds. Release it when the UPS responds. Automatic tests will also be performed every two weeks with this model. Performing a large number of tests will actually shorten battery life due to gradual wear and tear.
If you are using the PowerChute software, there is an option to perform a self test from within the software.
Although it is not specifically recommended, you can also perform a test by removing the UPS's power cord from the outlet to which it is connected.
Be aware that you should save your work and consider closing running programs before manually testing your UPS, in case the test fails.
2. The Ethernet ports are for surge protection purposes. They should be capable of protecting a gigabit connection if needed.
3.You can turn the unit off by holding down the power button for about two seconds. The UPS will beep and when it does, you should release the button. Anything attached to the battery backed outlets will be shut off.
4. A laser printer can be attached to the surge protected only (not battery backed) outlets.
