Hi All,
Here is what happened...
I was playing a game on my rig and suddenly my Back-UPS RS 800VA went on battery mode. I noticed a glitches on the lights in my room. There was still power in the AC Outlet in the same room because i had another "power bar" for other non important device and they were working.
Now, my Back-UPS RS 800VA is still on battery even if there is some power in the AC Outlet. So, i shut down the computer and i have unplugged everything.
I try to turn on the Back-UPS RS 800VA while connected to the AC outlet and the yellow battery light came on and the online geen light was blinking. After about 5-10 seconds, the green light disappear and the Back-UPS RS 800VA stays on battery with 4 beeps every 30 sec. It was kind of the same behavior if i was pushing the power button when not connected to the AC outlet.
There was power in the 3 AC outlet i tried since i had other devices (phone and lights) connected and they were working fine.
Any idea what's happening?
Thanks for your help.

Do you have a laser printer sharing the same branch circuit with your computer?
The fuser heater cycling will often cause what you're describing and trip the UPS to battery due to excessive rate of change of voltage over time.
I too have the same problem and I got around it by putting the UPS to minimum sensitivity, but for maximum reliability and stability of your computer, the best solution is to put the laser printer on a different branch circuit.

Slamarre,
The flickering lights and the transfer to battery probably aren't a coincidence. You may be experiencing a dip in voltage or some disturbances on your utility line. By default, your backup device is set to a high sensitivity. I would strongly suggest changing the sensitivity on that unit to either medium or low hopefully it will stay on utility power.
If you are using Powerchute you can change the sensitivity there, or if you are not, you can change the sensitivity on the front of that particular unit. Please follow the instructions on page two of the user's manual:

Which kind of equipment did you plug to this UPS while issue happened? (how many PC/monitor...)
One of possible reason is overload UPS. you can unplug all equipments, then push inward the circuit breaker at the back of UPS. then you can try to turn on the UPS again...!
Hope that can help to solve your issue.
Cheers
