Today, my wife woke up her Macbook Pro and the attached Thunderbolt display and the fan came on. There was no power failure and the number of events was 0. Only when I unplugged the unit and turned it on its side to access the battery compartment did the fan stop. Any suggestions?

In fact, after turning off the power switch and unplugging the UPS, the fan still ran for 30 seconds before stopping, with nothing plugged into it!
