Back-UPS Pro 550 data port connections

I have my UPS to safe guard my Synology 214Play from power outs which recently cost me the replacement of a 3tb drive along with a lot aggravation and time getting the system up to speed again.

So I purchased the UPS and all is running fine. My question is can I somehow can I somehow configure it so that I can configure it so that the data port is connected to my win7 pc that is running "Power Chute Personal Edition" and my NAS at the same time? At the moment it is one or the other. Is it possible to split the "Data Port" to run two cables? When the data port is connected to the NAS it sees it in its control screen and all is set up perfectly but then of course the "Power Chute" is not working so I then have to disconnect the data cable from the NAS and then connect to my pc. When I do this the NAS complains that it is disconnected which is correct.

For any Back-UPS UPS, this is not something we've tested or supported unfortunately. I imagine it might also require some type of modified cable and the Back-UPS may not be able to supply signals over it properly with its native chipset. Back-UPS products typically only support one data connection to one device at a time. A higher end UPS like a Smart-UPS supports USB, serial, and SmartSlot connectivity (on most models). Some NAS systems support USB or sometimes SNMP monitoring too so with a higher end UPS, you might be able to run two data connections to it simultaneously. Otherwise, it will have to be one or the other.

The other idea may be to use the UPS with the computer and depending on connection and how your NAS works, see if it is possible for your computer to issue a command or run a script to shut the NAS off instead of being directly connected to the UPS.
