Back-UPS Pro 280, connect to USB port

Hi!

I've a Back-UPS Pro 280 (BP280SI) that have a serial port and i want to connect to my mac or synology.

Does any serial to USB connector works or do i need a specific cable?

A USB to serial cable might work provided it is supported by the host computer and presents the UPS on a COM port. It is possible that this might not be as reliable as it should be.
