Back-UPS Pro 1350 S Draining with no Load

Back-UPS Pro 1350 S that I bought back on May 20th 2019 that I haven't really used yet.  Plugged on in next to my desk to charge without any thing plugged in.  It was a couple days after that I decided to move it and unplugged it.  Came back to the office a few hours later and the screen was on showing 18mins left and the top was warm with a small electric order you may get when a new PSU gets hot.  I don't have anything plugged into it and would assume it wouldn't drain that fast or anything at all.  My concern was the heat that was developed like if you had a loan on it.  Now the screen in front was constantly on and never turned off which I expect but I'm I to assume the screen draws that much to create any heat from the unit.

1)  Is this an issue that anyone else has had or seen and what was the fix?

2)  I don't free comfortable with the battery drain and the heat produced without it plugged in and nothing plugged into it drawing power.

3)  Or is this normal?

Thanks to anyone that can shed some light on my issue.  If I don't hear from anyone I'll be calling it in since these are less then a year old.

Hi John

I would call your local APC  Customer Care Centre and have them walk through some troubleshooting with you, they will be able to swap the unit out for you if there is anything not as it should be.

That sounds pretty normal. Unloaded or not it'll be running the inverter and that creates heat. These devices are not cooled for extended runtimes, so after "a few hours" it's going to be hot. It relies on the battery going flat before it cooks itself.
