Back-UPS HS 500: receptacles loose

I have a Back-UPS HS 500 that, ever since it was brand new, has had one major problem: the contacts inside the receptacles are very loose. Lightweight transformer blocks hang loosely, and if I'm not careful, I can knock a plug right out.

Is there a way to tighten up the contacts? Or is this a warranty/DOA issue?

Thanks!

I had purchased it in November 2009, so it's still in the warranty period.

Update: I invoked the warranty, they shipped me a replacement, and the original is in its box ready to go back to them. The receptacle contacts are loose on the replacement as well.

After a bit of research, I found something I would have not in a million years predicted: grounded plugs are held onto tightly--ungrounded plugs, not so much. The solution: use "power strip liberators" to make the plugs grounded.

Now I'm experiencing an interesting problem with the new one: when I try to disable the audible alarm in the Web interface, all I get is "Service Unavailable"..
