I am having issues with a recently installed Back-UPS ES 700Y-IND. The battery is giving backup & is also getting charged as far as I can tell after conducting multiple tests with around 33% load. However, everything else in the powerchute software seems to suggest otherwise. These are some of the pics.
pic1: ups on mains with no load connected
pic2: ups on battery power with around 33% load
pic3: ups on battery power with around 33% load just before auto shutdown
pic4: ups back on mains after & after running a self test which it passed
pic5: data log entries for above/similar scenarios
I don't think above stats are "normal" so what can be the reason. This unit is under warranty so I won't be opening it.

Turned out it was the supposedly new PowerChute Serial Shutdown software which was at fault. The local technical support asked me to install PowerChute Personal Edition & upon installation it showed me all values as expected. This has been quite disappointing considering I spent days browsing the internet looking for solutions ranging from various reset procedures to testing under different scenarios with load attached when the reason was latest software. I didn't find the link of PowerChute Personal Edition on this UPS model page on APC website so assumed it is not supported by the Personal Edition software. Doesn't APC test their own software with various not so new models to at least confirm the compatibility & correct functioning of latest software?

As the hardware is still under warranty it just makes sense to contact APC Technical Support to determine root cause. If the unit is determined to be faulty they will initiate a RMA for you.
Have the purchase receipt, serial number, and the screen captures you have here. Download the logs to see if there are any active faults / errors in the system and relay the same to APC.
Let us know how everything turns out and the final outcome. đź‘Ť

One would think, but to be fair what Power Chute software was bundled with the hardware? 🤔
If PCPE was included with the hardware that’s simply an oversight by you. Now, if PCSS was included with the hardware that’s absolutely on APC! 🤦‍♂️
Regardless, appreciate you taking the time to follow up and call out the cause and solution. đź‘Ť

When bundled software is mentioned people generally assume some cd/dvd bundled with the hardware as is the case with laptops & many other pc components. I now see that instruction manual in the box does mention PowerChute Personal Edition software but considering that manual was printed in Apr 2022 (as per enclosed test report) & PowerChute Serial Shutdown software being released in March 2023 it was reasonable for me to assume that Serial Shutdown software supersedes Personal Edition in terms of performance & features so it is the one to be used not to mention APC website itself only shows Serial Shutdown software link on this model product page. Now that I have confirmed that Serial Shutdown software doesn't work correctly with ES 700Y-IND model & possibly some other models too shouldn't APC technical support at least replace the Serial Shutdown software link with personal Edition with a note that though discontinued the Personal Edition is the one that works correctly for such UPS models & not the newer Serial Shutdown version. Maybe someone here can pass on this feedback to APC team.

I agree the company could do better in communicating the information as it relates to what software is applicable to a specific piece of legacy hardware.
The APC website is truly one of the worst on the Internet! 🤢 It’s like they hired a five year old to decide what and how things should be presented and organized?!? 🤦‍♂️
