A Flashing Green LED with constant beeping from the unit is indicating a Low Battery condition. I would recommend plugging the unit into good utility power and leave it off over night. This should charge the internal battery to 100% and alleviate the issue. If the issue persists following your attempt to recharge the internal battery, I would recommend calling in to our Technical Support and request a replacement battery.

Hi --
New to forum. Have a similar (not same) problem, with BE500R, s/n 3B0635X85788, do not recall how old but more than 5 years and still on original battery. Unit started to emit a constant high pitched tone, power to the computer was interruped, no lit or blinking LED's, and tone continued past the point at which I unplugged the unit (so either it was running on a still charged electrolytic capacitor or the battery was not dead). Replaced the battery, plugged it back in and same condition recurred, high pitched tone with no lit LED's, except that the high pitched tone ceased immediately on unplugging. I am just guessing the unit has a bad electrolytic inside. Load was light: one Dell Optiplex 755 minitower and monitor. Nothing else.
Any help available?

Hi Ted,
I can tell by the serial number that the unit is from 2006 (3rd and 4th digit) so it is about 10 years old. Unfortunately, based on the behavior of the unit with a new battery, it does seem that your unit has reached the end of its life. We typically say our units will last 7-10 years. We do offer a trade-ups program where you get 15-25% discount on a new unit. We also provide a pre-paid shipping label to recycle your old unit as well.

Michael --
Thank you for the information. I appreciate the fast response. Where do I go to explore the trade-up option, and to see how it compares with the local street price for a replacement unit?
All the best.

Hi,
Sorry for the delayed reply. You should let the UPS charge over night and then test it. If it still fails reset the UPS and test again.
To reset:
1: Disconnect any attached load.
2: Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
3: Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.
4: Push and hold the "On" button on the UPS for 5 seconds
5: Reconnect internal battery.
6: Plug UPS in to known good power source.
7: Turn UPS on.

Hi,
I encounter this also to my APC RS 500, i did the reset but the beeps still occurring when i turned it on. Is it possible that my UPS reached its end life? I purchase this wayback in 2013.

Hi,
If the reset procedure does not resolve the issue then the UPS should be replaced.

I have the exact same issue with my Back-UPS 600. I just bought it a month ago.
I've been been charging it for a while with nothing connected to it, but no luck. As soon as a turn it on, the green light starts blinking and then a constant beeping follows. I'm very disappointed with this unit since it is completely new. I'm plan it on returning it today.
