Back-UPS BX2200MI - Always buzzing

Hi there!

I have my new APC, which I already had to replace once. I plugged in this new one and there is a really annoying 'buzz' in the background. Unfortunately, I have to use it in a room where it's quite close to me, and it's a really bothersome noise that the other UPS didn't make! And it does this even when it's plugged into the power, not just when running on batteries! Any ideas? Any checks to perform?

The specification of this APC UPS indicates a noise level of 40 dBA. For your reference this is what the following sound levels are equivalent to:

10 dB: Normal breathing. 20 dB: Whispering from five feet away. 30 dB: Whispering nearby. 40 dB: Quiet library sounds.

I think the bookseller would have already called someone with the noise it makes! I don't have tools to measure the noise unfortunately.. but other groups that I have, even if less powerful doesn’t make that noise! I don't know, I think I'll hear from the customer service again!

Time permitting would you kindly record the sound this unit is making and share a link of the video. I’m curious to hear what kind of sound or the level of noise it makes.

At the end of the day if the replacement unit provided by APC is louder than the original one. I would encourage you to submit another service request with APC Technical Support.

They may very well replace it with another refurbished unit. Let us know how everything turns out and the direction you take. 👍

I had the UPS replaced, the second one makes a lot less noise than the first! But without a shadow of a doubt! 
But in any case it makes a very faint noise, audible from about 2.5 meters away... I think I'll leave it alone and keep this, but I don't recommend purchasing it for home/small office use, perhaps 2200 VA is too much to really be silent? In any case, thanks to everyone for the support and also to APC for replacing two groups for me! 
I will ask for feedback on the two returning groups to at least make sure I'm not crazy! 😄
