Back-UPS BR1500G-IN AVR

Hello,

I have a br1500g-in UPS I have been using for about a month with no issues.

Today I noticed I was getting nigh 255 volts (230 V is the normal voltage according to powerchute for my locale) from the wall. Surprisingly there was no AVR icon and checking the output voltage on the ups it was feeding 255 volts to my PC. I immediately shut my pc down. My question is when does the AVR kick in? Isn't 255 volts harmful for my PC?

Based on the specific model you have listed. It appears your unit isn’t designed with very high quality tolerances.

As such what you see is expected and normal. 🤢

I have appended the full user manual for your review. Pay special attention to page 7. This page talks about the sensitivity settings from low, med, high.

Every selection has a ridiculous upper voltage value ?!? 🤦‍♂️

Page 3 indicates the AVR range it will kick in. These value are also defined to some insane threshold 252 ~ 282 VAC +/- 17

You are probably best served by returning the unit and buying a higher quality pure sine wave model vs the one you have now (modified sine wave). 👍

That's not an option for me. I already paid with my kidneys for this one. And I am pretty sure it's out of return window.

Still thanks for clarifying. I have used hwinfo to create an alarm when the voltage goes over 250 it'll shutdown on its own.

Thanks for your help

I wouldn’t say the unit is defective vs it’s design is made / built to a specific dollar value.

This hardware is targeted at the low end of the consumer level. As stated the specifications for this unit isn’t very high as seen in the attached user manual.

Your options are to keep, sell, and by another unit with higher tolerances. 👍
