For my Back-UPS RS 800, I recently replaced the battery with a new one, plugged the unit in, and charged the battery.
The UPS now fails to recognize AC power. If I hold the "on" button down the UPS goes into a self-test and then goes directly into battery power and starts slowly beeping. The UPS is acting as if it were not plugged in. I have checked the input circuit breaker on the rear, and it has not tripped.
There was a discussion of my problem in 2008 (https://community.se.com/t5/APC-UPS-Data-Center-Enterprise/bd-p/datacenter-forum), but it seemed to arrive at no solution.
Any chance that this problem has since been diagnosed?

One reason why the UPS would not accept the AC utility power is if the voltage is either too high or too low, which is why I was hoping to know what voltage you're getting from your wall outlet.

Hi Kevin,
Sorry to hear about your issue with the Back-UPS RS 800, but would you happen to have the actual model and serial number of the unit, also have you tried to use a different wall outlet or power source, just to isolate the issue?
Regards

Hi,
Just wanna check, has this unit been working properly before and if so, when did you start getting this issue? Would you also confirm the voltage coming from the wall outlet?
to run proper diagnostics of the unit I would recommend you call our Technical Support at 1-800-800-4272, provide the model and serial number of the unit.
Regards

The unit long worked fine. The battery failed, and I procrastinated enough that the old battery swelled up. I had a terrible time getting it out. I finally succeeded, put is a new battery, and experienced this situation of failing to detect AC power.
I'm not sure what you mean by "Would you also confirm the voltage coming from the wall outlet?"
Kevin
