BX1500LCD Battery Replacement Needed: What are my options?

My BX1500LCD Back-Up UPS Unit is in desperate need of a battery replacement. I purchased the unit in late 2007 (no longer under warranty) it still works perfectly and has served me well. Several search attempts on APC's website has yielded less than favorable results in resolving this issue. My search has either come back as "Sold Out", "Out of Stock" or a referal to "Upgrade the Unit" which means shelling out another $300 bucks! The latter is not financially feasible for me which is why I invested in APC products in the first place. Additional searches yielded an aftermarket unit available thru Amazon.com at apprx. the same price listed here, but I am not sure I would be receiving the same quality replacement as with purchasing it from the original (APC) manufacturer. Can someone please tell me where I might be able to obtain a reputable replacement battery for this unit? I am a longtime APC Customer and have never had problems in the past with obtaining a battery replacement thru APC. I am somewhat frustrated and disappointed, I hope this is not a new trend....

Thank-you JonPro for your prompt response and for the link, which NOW shows the battery replacement is available for purchase thru APC's website. To answer your questions: Yes my battery light indicator is lit and flashing with an X. I also ran a self-test and my unit failed displaying an on screen message prompting me to replace the battery as well. Thanks again for your help, it is very much appreciated!

Hello "A",

I would like to be sure that it is indeed a bad battery that your UPS is showing. Do you see a battery icon with an "X" on it? If you do, is it flashing or solid? Upon checking the user manual it shows that the battery fot this unit is APCRBC109 and the latest pricing from the APC site is $79.99 > http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=APCRBC109. If you are seeing a different picture or indicator please let us know.
