BX1000G doing odd things

It started a few weeks after I first fired the UPS up. The UPS makes a few clicks (relay?) and a popup would tell me the unit was back to regular power. This has probably happened 30+ times in the past 2 1/2 months since I bought it (usually between 10 and 10:15 PM. Really weird was yesterday while I was at work my wife said that shortly after 2PM the UPS made a few clicks and the computer turned on and booted to the logon screen.

I rechecked my BIOS settings and all of the WAKE functions are disabled. Today at about 1 PM I was close by the computer which was on and the UPS gave those few fatal clicks and computer went into a shutdown to hibernation. pressing the power button brought it out of hibernation. A popup from the UPS indicated I should save all my work as the battery was almost depleted.

Looking at the front panel of the UPS it showed a fully charged battery.

The Powerchute Personal shows that in the last 4 weeks I've had one blackout for five seconds and seven instances of electrical nose for a total of 35 seconds.

Any ideas from anyone or should I be trying to return this unit for another?

Thanks for any help on this

Tom

it seems as though the UPS is going back and forth to battery for a certain reason.

the first step i would take is gradually lowering your unit's sensitivity to power fluctuations. possibly random clicking back and forth happened so much that your PC did not like the transfer time and rebooted.

i'd recommend using the powerchute software to adjust the sensitivity to medium or low and observe. the unit may just be trying to protect your devices from power line disturbance..
