BX1000G buzzing noise

Hi,
I have just purchased a BX1000G. I connected the battery and plugged the unit into the wall. At this point, it started making a buzzing noise and has not stopped(nothing is plugged into the UPS, and it has been plugged in about 10-15 minutes). It does this whether it is on or off. The noise is a buzz for a couple seconds, then a sort of chirping noise(not the alarm beep, lower pitch). Then there is a fraction of a second of silence and it repeats. Is this normal? If it is normal, is it going to do this constantly, or will it stop at some point(does the noise mean it is charging)?

Well, I contacted APC suppport. It took a couple e-mails to describe the sound, and then they sent out a new one. The new unit is a LOT quieter, so I guess the answer is that this sound is not normal :). The new one does make a VERY quiet(you have to put your ear up to the device to hear it) humming noise when on utility power and the usual UPS hum when on battery, which is fine by me.
