Is there a way i can configure it to shutdown my nas during power outages ?

Qnap tvs-471...will look at qnap site again, never saw ups info on there, thanks.

What kind of NAS do you have?

Certain NAS systems can communicate with an APC UPS and perform an orderly shutdown. The NAS software would have to support this functionality, or enable it to be added.

QNAP's web site indicates that some of their NAS products do support the connection of a UPS with USB connectivity. Others do not. The exact model number of the unit you have is very important. It is the only way anyone here can know what is supported by the product you actually have!

If your particular QNAP model supports attachment of a UPS, the BX1500 will work with it.

QNAP maintains a list of compatible UPS devices and it may be of some interest to you: http://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Compatible/Incompatible_UPS . BX1300 is on the "compatible" list and is almost exactly the same thing as your BX1500.
