Hello,
I purchased an APC BR700G and it is constantly making a buzzing noise. I have no sound level meter to see how loud it is, but from across the room (~15ft away) I can hear the APC unit while my PC is completely silent from this distance.
The unit ALWAYS makes this noise, it changes tone slightly as it switches doing whatever it does on "startup", but the noise is always there. As long as the unit is on, it makes noise, even with zero load attached. I have tried the unit at two different homes (I happened to be moving so it was quite convenient to try this) ... same noise, the first home has basically nothing in it and it still made the noises (essentially, the house only has lightbulbs in it that operate with electricity, no dimmers, ceiling fans, appliances or anything).
If anyone has any ideas of what I can do, I am all ears. Is this normal with these units? At my work, we installed a TON of ES series ones (years ago) and they are all dead silent to this day. I hope there is an easy fix or something I am doing wrong (I can't imagine what), because returning this unit for a replacement is a pain in the rear (2.5hr drive each way to the place I bought it from, the joys of being in Whistler).
