I'm new to UPS's. I live in Thailand and want to insulate my computer from frequent power "snaps" (not uncommon to have several a week) and brownouts (not quite as common) as well as the occasional total power outage.
From a discussion on another forum, I learned some (very few!) basics about UPS's and have been advised that a 650VA unit is probably adequate for my use. My system:
i5-760, 2.8GHz (stock)
CM Hyper212+ cooler
GigaByte P55A-UD3P
12GB RAM
Intel 520 120GB SSD
.5TB + 1TB WD Green HDDs
ATI HD4670 | Samsung 203B 20" LCD
Lian-Li Lancool K56 case
abee Athlete 600W PSU
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I have a choice of the BR650CI-AS or BK650-AS for roughly the same price, but have no idea what the practical difference is between the two. Is one better suited for my needs?
Any polite help would be appreciated! 🙂

The "BR" line is a better option than the "BK" line. I would recommend the back up PRO line as these two UPS' will not support more than 390 watts. Although you may not use the full capacity of your power supply(600w), we don't recommend using a UPS that will not support it at full capacity. We would recommend either the BR1200GI or BR1500GI as they are the only two that support your power supply at full capacity.
