Hi,
today I was playing with my PC, the UPS showed a load of max 800W on the display, all normal, I always used to see 800W during playing. Rarely I can see some spikes of 870W on the LCD.
At some point my PC shut down immediately and the UPS started beeping continuosly saying F02 error.
My batteries are five years old but the auto test passes without problem,
is this problem related to batteries or to overload?

Hi,
F02 error = On Battery Output Short. I assume this is the same unit that you are looking to replace the battery on. You should replace the battery and if the error does not clear reset / Brain Dead the unit.
Reset / Brain Dead procedure.
1: Disconnect any attached load.
2: Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
3: Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.
4: Push and hold the "On" button on the UPS for 5 seconds
5: Reconnect internal battery.
6: Plug UPS in to known good power source.
7: Turn UPS on.

after a lot of troubles I succeded in buying a new battery and BOOM!
my BR1500GI is not able to handle a 800W load.
as soon as I put 800W on the UPS the UPS shutdown everything connected on it and it says F02 error with continuous beep. no problem with 750W or lower.
I'm pretty sure that after this difficulties in finding new batteries and the underrated specs this is my last APC product.
I hate when manufacturers sells products boosting specs more than what they are able to handle.
My BR1500GI is not able to handle 800W with new batteries, figure out if it can even handle 865W as advertised.
I will go on forums spreading my bad experience. No way to justify the price premium of APC for this cheap products.

HI,
We strive to build quality products so I am sorry to hear of your displeasure. The unit is designed to handle a 865 watt load. Based on the age of the unit I recommend taking advantage of either our or our competitors trade in program (understanding your displeasure with APC - Schneider Electric) and upgrade the unit.

A unit must last more than a battery.
The price is completely out of range for the quality that APC offer.
I'm pretty sure that nothing is related to the age of my unit (five years is pretty new for an UPS that always worked in excellent AC conditions)
This unit simply cannot handle the wattage that you advertise on the specifications.
Thank you but this is the last APC product I buy.

I have found some more specs on this UPS.
It seems that the BR1500GI is not a real 1500VA as advertised by APC,
besides being stepped sinewave, that APC UPS has a PFC of 0.58 and normally, for this reason it should be labeled as a 865VA UPS because it isn't a real 1500VA.
Always more disappointed by this brand.
Such expensive products with either misleading advertised specs.

The stepped waveform means it's trivial for the UPS to support a load that has a poor power factor. It's designed to support up to 865W and up to 1500VA.

A good brand like APC should advertise the real specs and not the specs that they can't handle.
