Hi,
I have a Br1500g Model BackUPS which has started showing a flashing X within a battery Icon. I first started seeing this after a few days first using the UPS (It had been sitting before being used for a couple years). I contacted support who had no idea what it meant and told me to try restarting it (this requires me to plan in advance around this as this is being used for remote systems accessible by satellite offices). The support agent actually said she didn't think it was strong enough to support the 4 remote PC's I had connected to it (makes no sense considering it's not even coming close to max wattage).
Anyway I did plan an outage and restarted the UPS. The icon went away for 2 weeks. Now it has come back. There is no legend for this icon in the manual. Clearly it means something is wrong with the battery, but does anyone have more info about this?
Thanks

Hi Jake,
That alert your are seeing is for a bad battery. Since you said the unit was sitting unused for an extended period of time, the battery is likely dead. The batteries have a shelf life of about 6 months without being regularly charged. When you reset the unit, the alarm cleared, then returned when it did its 2 week self-test. The internal battery will need to be replaced.
