BH500NET Issues

It looks like there are a number of issues with the BH500NET:

• It doesn't work in anything but Internet Explorer
• It doesn't work in the latest version of Internet Explorer despite it being within the supported browser set described in the manual
• It locks you out if you use a symbol in your password
• There's a back door
• It's not firmware upgradable

The product is still under warrantee and is still being sold as new even though it doesn't support a single current browser. There are no system requirements listed anywhere I can find; Amazon and APC's product information page don't list any. The user guide indicates Internet Explorer 5 or later and Some old version of Netscape Navigator or later.

It's not that the admin tool uses technology only supported in old browsers, the problem is that he built-in server is incorrectly encoding some of the pages it serves which old browsers ignore.

Based on my communications with APC and the other posts here, it would appear that APC is not interested in support the product they continue to manufacture, sell, and "warranty".

What is APC's plan from this point? Should I contact the seller and get a refund?

As far as I knew, we were discontinuing that UPS and replaced it with BG500. All those issues/caveats you mentioned should be a moot point with BG500 so I would check that UPS out and perhaps pursue that rather than BH500NET. Did you buy it from an authorized reseller or something like ebay?
