I bought my BGM1500 on November 27, 2024 from BHPhotoVideo and with it, I bought the Allstate 2 year warranty via Squaretrade.
For the past couple of weeks, the internal fan runs non-stop. To temporarily fix it, I'll unplug the UPS, unplug all the devices from it, disconnect the battery and do a 'dead reset'..... which is holding the power button down for a few seconds. I then re-connect the battery, plug it back into the wall then plug my devices back in and everything is fine for a day or 2 then the cycle repeats. (Fan runs non-stop.)
The only things plugged into the UPS are my TV and a Nintendo Switch 2. They draws about 300W combined, at most. The load is typically around 30%.
Is something defective? I've never used Squaretrade before. Do I call them to troubleshoot or get a diagnosis from an expert on here and THEN go to Squaretrade? Or is there a permanent fix for the fan running non-stop? A firmware update maybe?

The internal fan will come on during the following conditions: Charging, On Battery, High Internal Temperature, High Load, etc
The UPS should be placed in a dry & cool location with proper air movement / ventilation, away from direct sunlight, any heat generating sources.
If the unit is connected to APC Power Chute Software. You can export the following logs for review: Event, Data, UPS.
Power Chute Software (PCSS) will tell you the current battery temperature so call this out when the fan is on / off.
The hardware is covered by a three year warranty directly from APC. As such you should contact APC Technical Support if you believe there’s a hardware issue not related to ambient heat / environmental.
You’ll need to provide the serial number, receipt, brief description of the problem or any active faults / error codes.
NOTE: The system log should call out any over temperature conditions that are outside of the normal range as called out above.

Thanks for the reply, here are your answers:
"The internal fan will come on during the following conditions: Charging, On Battery, High Internal Temperature, High Load, etc"
Right now, with 0% load, the internal fan is running at full speed. The side of the UPS is fairly warm. The battery is charged to 100%. It's next to an air conditioning vent so gets plenty of cold air and out of direct sunlight. It's not near any heat generating sources.
"If the unit is connected to APC Power Chute Software. You can export the following logs for review: Event, Data, UPS."
UPS Status: Online
UPS Load 0.0%
Runtime Remaining 180 minutes
Battery Charge 100%
Battery Voltage 27.2 VDC

Please do follow up as the final outcome whether it be a replacement unit.
NOTE: APC Technical Support may ask you to perform a Brain Dead (Logic Reset) to see if this resolves the issue.
You may do this now to see how the system behaves and report back the results here:
https://www.se.com/be/fr/faqs/FA158947/
You’ll want to monitor how the system behaves going forward. If the system continues to engage the fan and it’s not related to load / temperature the unit should be RMA and replaced.
