I have a BE550G (among others) It seems that the battery has failed. I have an extra RBC17 available. Can I use it rather than order an RBC110 ?

Unofficially, yes, you certainly can. The only difference in those two batteries is the stated capacity in amp-hours, with the RBC17 being a bit larger (9 AH versus 7.2 AH).
Bear in mind that I speak only as an end user and independent service provider for uninterruptible power supplies. I have no affiliation whatsoever with APC or Schneider Electric. When it comes to replacement batteries for these, I only carry the RBC17 or its generic equivalent (depending upon what the end user wants).
