i have a year old hitachi lcd tv, when i purchased it i was told to put it on a battery backup due to frequent brownouts and power surges (i live in sw florida) the lamp needs to cool down when tv is turned off, so i purchased a 350 es so if the power went out i could manually turn off tv. however the backup doesn't seem to be working as when the power blinks the tv turns itself off. the tv is the only thing plugged into the backup side, the dvd and wii are plugged into surge side.
i have checked to see if the fuse tripped but it doesn't seem to have. any ideas what is wrong and since it is only a year old would this still be under warrenty?

ok well i purchased a new 550 and installed the software to turn off the annoying beeps, i checked some info on the new one and it said it had 100 battery available. i then hooked up the 350 and it said only 65% battery was available, the unit has been plugged in and should have 100%, so i am wondering if the battery is going? since i didn't really use the unit on backup.
i have the 350 plugged in to charge without anything plugged into it. i will check again in morning to see if it shows more then 65% available battery.

What's the W capacity on the power supply of the LCD TV? The 350VA UPS is only capable of 200W total. I'm thinking that the UPS may be overloaded whenever it needs to go to battery, due to the lamp within the LCD TV. Can you verify that a pull plug test works by unplugging the TV, plugging in a lamp, and unplugging the UPS from the wall?

it says average powr is 188w. and it is just now giving problems it worked fine for last year. will try the lamp test however all the lamps in the house use flurescent bulbs. am thinking about getting a be550r would that be better?
ok i plugged in a fan and unplugged ups from wall, fan speed went down and made noise but it stayed on.

Well 188 is really close to 200, especially if you're not sure. If it runs other items on battery w/out a problem, I think we've found the culprit.
