Hello,
This is my first post in these forums. I have searched, but could not find the answer...
In October of 2007 I purchased the 1300RS VA unit from a major retailer here in Montreal. Overall I have been happy. I orginally installed the PowerChute software and plugged the unit into the USB port, but I noticed that DVD burns were failing, so I unistalled the software and the problem went away...
Now onto the real problem. The unit is only about 5 months old. Recently I have been having the bad battery icon flashing and chirpng sounds. It is quite possible that I am using the unit incorrectly, but I think that everything is ok. I have my Workstation and a few editing periphals plugged into the battery ports. Usually I run at around 40-50% load. My workstation is a dual xeon on a Tyan Thunder MOBO. I have a 10k OS drive, and 4 SATA drives on a raid 0. I also have a QuadroFX 3450 and 4 Pioneer DVD burners. This is all in a Titan server tower. My dual Sony LCD monitors are also plugged into the battery ports, along with an editing break out box (AVID MOJO).
Can it really be that the battery is dead so quickly ??? I run on AC power, but sometimes the unit wants to switch to battery....should I reload the PowerChute software and run tests ??? If so, what tests should I be running. Also, if the battery is dead, how do I go about getting it replaced ??? I really need this to work, as if I lose power whilst saving an editing project, the project could become corrupted and I could potentially lose many hours of work (that is the reason I purchased the unit).
Thanks for any help that anyone can offer.
Mark

If the replace battery LED is flashing and you are hearing small chirps from the unit, that means it's sensing the battery is disconneted.
I'd just try reconnecting the battery and make sure there isn't anything in the way of the leads. The connections can be a bit cramped, so it's possible one is loose.
