I have an XS 1300 LCD that I have never changed the battery pack on. This morning I got a "battery disconnected" message. I pulled the batteries out and they are showing 13v each or 26v for the pack. Does this sound like I just need to replace the batteries or does the fact that the batteries still carry some power mean my problem is the ups itself?
thank you

if you have the batteries connected to the UPS, when it reads battery disconnected, the easiest test would be to pull the plug on the UPS and see what it does before replacing any parts.

I did pull the plug and I do lose power to all connected loads. All that tells me is battery power is not being provided to the connected loads. I am trying to determine if the ups is failing or just the batteries.
thank you

oh ok, didnt realize you did it. i agree with what you said but i guess i was wondering if it would support the loads or not. how old is the battery? if you tell us the first several digits of your serial number, we can tell that for you.
i guess it'd have to be a judgement call. it could be older batteries that the voltage is dropping off when load is applied or just a UPS issue.

The unit is from 2006 with the original batteries so I'm sure the batteries are suspect. I'm just trying to avoid spending money on batteries if the whole unit is bad. At this point I think I will buy the batteries and if it turns out the unit is bad I'll just replace it with something that uses the same batteries so it is not a total waste.
thanks
