Hi together,
I recently bought an APC 1000 SUA which is connected to an iMac 27"/ late 2009 via USB. I would like to use the automatic shutdown function but it's simply not working for me. My settings:
The first checked box is for automatic shutdown after 5 minutes of battery usage. The third box is for automatic shutdown when 75% of the battery is left.
I disconnected the APC from the power supply and wait until it reached 20% (from 100%) but nothing happenend. I already took a look at the protocoll and I can't see that the System tried to shutdown. There's only a message, that the UPS battery is low.
How can help?
Regards Walter

Walter,
The SUA1000i uses standard HID power device protocol so the Mac should work properly. You wrote that when you switch the UPS to battery the OS - software recognizes the event but does not recognize that threshold have been reached. If you could please run you test again and this time when the UPS reaches 70% of battery life unattach and reattach the USB cable. My suspicion is the OS will begin the shut down process.
Something else you can try is install APCUPSD and test that software with your SUA and Mac.
