Got a small server connected to a APC Back-UPS BR1000; both the server and unit just shut down throughout the day. I have tried changing the APC unit to a different model and the same thing happens. Both units have a full charge when this happens.
What I don't understand is that if there is an electrical problem why the unit doesn't switch to battery and it just shuts down. What would cause the APC unit to just turn off? Only a server and monitor are connected to this unit so I know it's not an overload situation.
The server is a PowerEdge T110 tower unit.
We have also tried changing the power supply on the server....same issue....

has this always happened or did it once work?
what other UPS model did you try? the same model?
this may be due to the fact that your server requires a pure sinewave UPS versus step approximated that Smart UPS SC and Back UPS products offer. it may also dislike the transfer time to battery that a Back UPS provides.
does it always turn off? (versus reboot?)
just to clarify, does the UPS turn off too or does it continue running? the title of the thread makes it sound like the UPS turns off too but i am not sure thats the case.
