I am planning to buy 600VA APC UPS. Model number is:
I would use this UPS to give power backup to my internet MODEM and wireless router. So total load will be around 10W to 15W. I want that the UPS should provide back-up for such a light load up to 2 hours.
So I want to know whether the above mentioned UPS model can work for such a light load of 15W? I have seen there are many UPS in the market which doesn't give back-up power output once they sense that light load is connected, and turned OFF automatically. They will give proper power backup if you have connected your computer (which is something 100W), but when you connect such a light load, they will power OFF within 2 min by assuming there is no load connected.
Does APC UPS also works in the same way? APC UPS APC-BX600CI-IN can work for light loads also?
Appreciate your fast response
Thanks
Vikas

Hi Vikas and Nada,
Yes the back ups will provide back-up power with a small load for as long as the battery can withstand. The runtime however is hard to estimate with the small load. Our estimates are calibrated for a higher percentage of load on the unit. When you have a very small amount of load the estimate will not be as accurate and your runtime can fluctuate a good amount. See the link below for all the characteristics that will affect your runtime.

I have the exact question as my requirement is exactly the same as that of Vikas, except that my back-up requirement is 4 hours.
Load: modem and wifi router
Backup needed: 4 hours
Also, want to know (same question as Vikas's) if the UPS would turn off on such light load condition.
Vikas, have you got your queries answered? Which UPS did you go in for?
Thanks in advance,
Nanda

Hi Nanda,
I didn't get any feedback from Schneider Electric. But finally I bought APC-BX600CI-IN only. It is working fine at low load. I have connected Wi-fi router and MODEM only. Getting almost 1 hour of back.
Thanks
Vikas
