APC UPS 1000VA

Bought an APC UPS 1000va today. Just noticed that it contains a new-ish plastic smell and the top part which i think is the exhaust part (because it has holes) also gets warm/hot. The rest of the part is cool tho, i mean no heat or warm can be felt just the part of the exhaust. Just want to know if what i just said is normal. Thanks in advance bros.

PS. I run a 2070 super and a 750w psu.

The internal electronics will generate some heat through the air vents. Even when Off. Like the battery maintainer/charger circuit.

How much heat is hard for me to say. As an Electronic Technician.  What I may think is fine others may think is too hot.

I see another user has also concerns about the temperature of the air flow and case. APC should have research on its design and allowed temperature.

Have you tried the computer to see how it acts on battery power? As the UPS has a stepped sine wave output on battery and the computer may have an Active Power Factor AC input.

Do you have the APC model number as it may help. Model number will give us more details like AC output wave when on battery. Like stepped sine wave or sine wave.

1000VA UPS usually has about a 600 watt output. Depending on how many watts you are drawing. You may come close to its maximum wattage output.

Do you know if the power supply has an Active Power Factor Correction input. Depending on the UPS model it may have a stepped sine wave output on battery that may not play nice with the UPS.

What you are smelling maybe the new plastic smell and it probably will get better after some use. The warm air maybe heat being removed from the electronics and probably normal.

thank you for the reply, the model is APC BV1000 -MS 1000va/600watts/4 Sockets. I left it turned off but plugged in and after 8 hours its still hot even when turned off.
