Every other day APC tells me there was a blackout in the morning 4-7am and each time it only lasts 5 seconds.
its weird, my others pcs dont have APC units and they are fine.
any ideas?

Hi, were you ever able to solve your problem?
I just got an APC BX900R, and I am having the exact same problem as you.
2 or 3 nights ago, at 1:05 AM, the BX900R went to battery for 5 seconds. I thought it was strange, because we didn't have a power outage or anything, and the lights didn't dim like when someone uses the iron.
Then last night, at 1:10 AM, the BX900R went to battery for 4 seconds. Again, no power outage or anything.
PowerChute seems to be recording these, as before last night's "blackout", it said there were 2 blackouts lasting 10 seconds total. Then after last night's "blackout", it said there were 3 blackouts lasting 14 seconds total.

what model UPS is this? the model number from what white sticker on the back or bottom of the UPS is what we need.
also, just throwing it out there, is there anything that turns on each morning that you can think of that may cause a sag in the line or something - such as a vacuum, water heater, hair dryer, etc?

Im the first one up in the morning and I turn nothing on that can cause this. Also, the blackouts happen before i get up so it cant be anything im doing.

i will give you a couple of things to try and then we can see what is easier for you to try.
and just to confirm, you are wording this issue as a "blackout" because that is what powerchute is telling you is the last transfer to battery reason, correct?
in regards to trying to narrow this down, first thing i'd try just to reset the APC UPS incase anything strange is going on would be to brain dead it. to do this, you'd want to disconnect your load and unplug it. turn the UPS off. also, unplug the USB cable from the data port on the UPS. disconnect the battery from the UPS then hold down the on/off button for about five seconds. reconnect the battery and then you can connect the USB cable again. turn the UPS on and reconnect all your equipment. you can then see if the UPS does the same thing.
another thing i was thinking is to dry a different circuit in the location after brain deading the UPS incase it isnt an obvious power issue that you are missing. if you brain dead it and move it to a different circuit in the location we could rule that out.
i was thinking lastly, you could try leaving the data cable connected to the UPS to monitor it but remove all load from the UPS. of course, if the power really IS going out and there is a blackout, that'd mean everything that was being protected but the UPS wont be, and thus could turn off. so that may be a bad idea at this point in time.
