Hello All,
I am reaching out to seek help with APC USP device that I stopped working an year I have purchased it. It was initially working as expected, but then one just shutdown and stopped turing on. I don't want to give up on it and I was wondering if somebody can give me a hand with troublehsooting it.
Currently, when I try to power it on, I can hear the relays constantly clicking, and the display just flashes for subsecond. Then, it starts all over again.
The model of the USP is: APC SMX1500RM2U with a serial number AS1549235016.
The Battery pack model is OM-9989A-001 with a serial number 7A1549L21159.
The battery pack has been discharged as I the device has been sitting for a couple of years.
Thank you in advance!
-IVI

On the back of the unit is a port called EPO. There should be a green, blue, grey coloured phoenix connector there.
If not it should be with the paper documents in a zip lock bag. Connect a two wire cable to the N.O side of the phoenix connector as outlined in the user manual.
Install the APC Power Chute software to a computer and connect it to the UPS via USB. Ensure it’s running and launched in Windows.
- Remove the battery cartridge from the unit.
- Plug the unit into AC Mains and let it do whatever if it starts up.
- Touch the two ends of the wire that are connected to the EPO via the phoenix connector to each other very quickly. If you wired the connector correctly the system will immediately shutdown and terminate power from the entire unit.
- Remove AC Mains from the unit and than press and hold the top power button. You may hear a click / beep when done. You may not hear anything at all either. ☝️
Wait about two minutes and apply AC Mains. What happens?!? If the unit remains off good, press the power button what happens?!?
If it turns on go look at the computer running Power Chute. What active faults / errors are being captured and declared?!?
Assuming the system is still running use the LCD to toggle to the logs and write down all the events / errors and report them here. 👍
