Hi there,
I have a APC SMT 750i with a bit of a history (https://community.se.com/t5/APC-UPS-for-Home-and-Office-Forum/APC-SMT-750i-replace-battery-warning-d...) and a rather new battery (see linked thread for details).
That setup worked quite well for about a month. Out of the sudden the "replace battery" warning showed up again. After a while ignoring the error (busy week, etc.) it turned into an "overload error" with a power off of all connected loads. Resetting the UPS and reinstalling the battery as a "new" one fixed the issue for the time being. Do I have a faulty unit?
Many thanks for any advice!
Marvin

The UPS usually detects sudden voltage drops on battery and trigger a replace battery warning and often times when there is not enough supply of voltage from the battery the UPS may think that it is overloaded since it will pull too much amperage the UPS will protect itself by turning off the load instead.
I would suggest that you run a full calibration of the batteries to make sure that the UPS is calibrated on what is the actual capacity and knows what to expect from the battery.

There are also instances when a different battery is installed with a different battery chemistry and the voltage / charge percentage of the battery than what the UPS expects so make sure that you purchase genuine APC cartridges made for the unit and avoid refurbished battery packs.

You may also want to consider that the sensors and other UPS components may also fail if the UPS is old.

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for taking the time replying to my issue.
Unfortunately, I was already unable to calibrate the battery as indicated in my first issue (linked in my post).
In the meantime I replaced the unit with another used one, which had old batteries. I guess my unit was just faulty, I paid a lesson ...
