Hi Everyone
I am using APC UPS since 10 years , But since 1 year I am gettgin much trouble with
batteries provided by APC.
I have a lot of UPS with different APC models. Recently I am getting much trouble with APC RS-500VA.
Its batteries gone dead very soon and we have to replace them .
I got from some reliable source that while replacing new APC battery we have to set some
settings through some APC software.
Please can some one guide me How can I find that software and install new battery to APC UPS.
Regards
LeoUmar.

the purchase/use of a third party battery for an APC UPS will void any remaining warranty on the UPS but if its out of warranty, there is no other consequence. APC cannot support the use of a battery that has not been approved for use with the UPS.

Hi,
After replacing the batteries, all you need to do is run a self test on the unit.
This can be done through the PowerChute software, or, even easier, cycling the power to the device.
This should clear the bad battery indications. If there is something else going on, please let us know the specifics.

I do not believe Apc makes its own batteries, rather has them made for them to tier specifications or just has them put an apc sticker on them. I do not think Apc batteries are any better than after market batteries and people should be focused on specs and warranty rather than brand. I have replaced many ups batteries with higher capacity batteries which were the equivalent size of its originals. I tend to choose those that are warranted for 2 years or more but on occasion have purchased ones with only a year warranty. I have yet to have a failed battery and In addition have increased run time.
