I'm working with an old factory machine that has a computer inside running Windows NT. The backup unit was replaced with an APC Backups Pro 900, and it is running an older version of APC PowerChute Business Edition. Unfortunately, I can't login to the server software because nobody remembers the username/password that was set for it.
Are there default credentials (username/password) that I can use to login to the software? If not, can someone point me to a download for a version of PowerChute that will run on Windows NT and work with the Pro 900 backup unit?

Hi,
PowerChute does not have a default user name or back door password so since you do not know the credentials you should uninstall PowerChute. Had you know the credentials we may have been able to recommend a compatible Smart-UPS.

Hi,
We do not offer a version of PowerChute that is compatible with a new Back-UPS and Windows NT. last version of PowerChute that was supported on Windows NT w/SP 6a was PowerChute +. That was discontinued in 2005 right around the same time Microsoft ended support for NT. The back-UPS will still provide battery back up power however someone will need to be available to power the OS down and then the UPS.
It is possible that a newer Smart-UPS connected via serial comm to the NT system running PowerChute + may work but it has not been tested.
If another member has a suggestion for NT please join in.

Thanks for the feedback. My best option may be to uninstall the APC software that is currently running because I can't use it anyways. I'm looking into having someone manually shutdown the machine during a power outage.

Hi,
Before you uninstall what version of PowerChute is running? Depending on the version I may be able to recommend an new unit that would be compatible.

I'm not sure how to determine what version it is. I can't log into the console because I don't have the credentials. When I check add/remove programs, it lists:
APC PowerChute Business Edition Agent
APC PowerChute Business Edition Server
APC PowerChute Business Edition Console
