APC Backups BE600-BR - more complaints
It's me once again complaining about the BE600-BR!
The first complaint I had was that the low and high transfer points are too restricted for 220V, the range is 190-240V - below 190 or over 240, it transfers to battery. Not a single APC UPS sold in the world, apart from this one, do that and there is nothing one can do, unless throwing this dang thing away!
The other complaint I have now is that this unit is supposed to select the 50% reduction transformer tap @ 220V which would translate to 110V at the output, but my unit is doing that @ only 215-216V, which translates to 108V at the output and it only comes back to the 45% reduction tap when the input voltage comes down to 212V which means the output is 104V-106V before that happen! The unit does the same thing if I power it @ 110-120V, it selects the 6,5% reduction tap @ only 117V and according to the information written on the box, it is supposed to do that @ 122V to 131V which IMHO, is also useless since 95% of the brazilian grids that delivers "110v-120V" is actually 127V, so the equipments are made to cope with this, no need for voltage regulation at this range. Interestingly these UPSes are made in the APC brazilian factory, but some of the units seems not to be correctly calibrated to the particularities of our grids.
This is a bi-volt unit, it can work @ 220V and @ 110-127V and I have another BackUps but this one is the BE600-LM - a "monovolt" model and it works as it is supposed to. It only selects the 6,5% reduction tap @ 122V. So what's with my BE600-BR? Is it defective? I don't know what to do because if I call the brazilian support team they don't know what I'm talking about. The unit is only 6 month old and I'm almost throwing this sh#T away!
