We have a customer that has an old style beige Back-UPS 1500 XS (BX1500) that had an issue of not wanting to switch back to AC power after being moved from one location to another. We couldn't get it to work onsite, so we took it back to our shop. Now we are having a problem getting it to power up at all. We can get it to do a Cold Start, but then if we plug AC power in again, it doesn't switch to AC power. We can also get it to go into the programming mode to set the sensitivity. The last time we had one of these in our shop, we were able to somehow do a reset that allowed it to resume normal operation, but can't remember the steps we took to do so (it may have been luck). We also do not have a cable to use the PowerChute Software.
When pressing the power button it makes a kind of chirping sound that sounds kind of like morse code.
I guess my question is - is there a way to do a factory reset on the unit without the cable?
OR does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi,
If the unit will not switch to AC that indicate it does not see the incoming AC or see the AC but see it as out of range so it stays on battery. In the U.S. the unit should run on 120v AC and 60 Hz. If those are in range then the unit should be replaced.

Thank you. I have tried this and can now get the unit to power up, but upon startup, it does not switch back to AC power after the self-test. Any thoughts?
