APC Back-UPS RS only uses battery.

I just purchased an APC back-ups rs lcd and it's only feeding from the battery to the computer. Besides, the fans are on all the time, and this makes the thing to be very noisy.

Is there a way to tell the ups not to use the battery? In these conditions, I can only get 40 minutes of power supply, which of course renders the ups useless.

There's alot of things that can cause why a Back-UPS would run on battery. To name a few they are:

# Bad input power
# Total Harmonic Distortion
# Over/Undervoltage Conditions
It would help if you can provide the exact model number of your UPS. It can be found at the back of your Back-UPS RS.

Never mind, suddenly it stopped using the battery. I guess it wasn't fully charged, even the lcd said it was.

Now it's operating normally, and has already prevented the machine from shutting down during a power out.
