Hello.
Is there a way to disable APC Back-UPS ES-750 (BE750G)'s internal automatic self tests. I am already aware there is a problem with its dead/dying battery to be replaced. Or do I really have to physically open it up to disconnect it? I don't see a way to do it with PowerChute PE v3.0.2 software in my 64-bit Windows 7 HPE SP1 OS.
Every time it runs self tests, it loses power to its battery plugs and won't come back for many hours (six/6 like a few hours ago). I just want to use it as a power surge protector like with its five battery power plugs when UPS is power connected to a wall outlet for now. Also, why does it not provide battery to these outlets even if the power AC is connected?
I wonder if this is really a battery issue or an UPS issue. I think I had this UPS since 2008? I cannot seem to find its date it was created. I know this UPS came from Philippines on its bottom label. If I replace its $45 battery, and the problem still happens then I just wasted money and time. 😞
Thank you in advance. 🙂

FYI. I tried these instructions from APC's e-mail support:
1. Disconnect any attached load.
2. Turn off the UPS
3. Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
4. Disconnect the UPS internal battery.
5. Push and hold the "On" button on the UPS for 5 seconds.
6. Reconnect internal battery.
7. Plug UPS in to known good power source.
8. Turn the UPS ON.
The UPS showed a green light and then vanished with long beeps. I am hoping the new battery won't have this problem (a battery problem, not an UPS problem).

Hi Ant,
Unfortunately, there is no way to suspend the Automatic Self test within the unit and we should be able to determine the age of the unit, from the serial number found on the bottom. If you have never changed the battery before, it's a good bet that this is all you'll need to do to be up and running once again.
In addition, the battery outlets are controlled by the On/Off switch. If you were to turn the unit on without the battery connected you will receive a constant tone, which by itself would be intolerable. You may however be able to silence this "battery disconnect" alarm through the PowerChute Software, therefore allowing you to use the unit without the annoying constant tone. I'm not 100% sure this will work but it's worth a try.

I really wished PowerChute PE provided these details too. 😞 Also, I had someone pulled its battery out and I quick tested the battery outlets with the power AC connected. They all worked since they got power. I wonder if the UPS blocked them when battery was bad. I guess UPS is OK? If so, then I will order a new battery (#17) from APC.

PowerChute PE can provide "some" of these details under the technical data section.
Looks like the battery age is the same as the unit 6yrs old..
apcupsd/apctest not sure if that program "apctest" can let you turn off the self test for your unit, it depends on you unit model....

Yeah, but not enough details like apcuspd's. 😞
