APC Back-UPS Amber light and Beeping but no power loss in house
We recently got an APC Back-UPS BE600M1 and installed it in my son' room. We plugged his PC and two monitors into the Surge and Battery backup ports. It had been running for about 3 days without issues until the other night when he was playing games on his PC (he had hooked up his VR to the PC as well) and the APC unit began to make a single beep every few seconds and the light went to blinking Amber. He had played games for days before this happened, the only difference being he hooked up an additional VR headset that wirelessly talks to the computer and does cause more power to be used with the Graphics Card. Once it started beeping and blinking amber, he shut down the computer. When he did the beeping stopped and the light on the APC went back to green.
It was my understanding that the amber blinking light and beeping would only happen when the battery on the unit was draining or nearly drained, but in this case, we didn't lose power in the house, so the power coming from the outlet was never out. Why would the APC unit start beeping and blinking if it was still getting power from the outlet in the house? The battery wouldnt drain if it had house power coming to it would it? Maybe my understanding of how the UPS works is wrong / off?
