I have the APC Back-UPS 900VA. It is plugged into the wall and I have my Computer, 2x monitors, modem, clock digital, plugged into the battery back up. We have lost power here twice because of bad storms. What happens is when the power goes out, so does the battery back up and everything plugged into it shuts off, without me giving me a chance to shut down my computer safely. I have the computer and 2x monitors plugged into the surge protection part of the battery also. Can anyone help me figure out what is going on. Thanks for the help.

I changed some plugs around, and wait till the next storm here. It had a
green light on solid, and the Battery was hooked up.
By the way that wire to hook up is short. You might want to think of
making it a bit longer. Thanks again for your help.

I can think of a number of possibilities, but we should start with the most obvious problems first:
1. Are the batteries connected? They ship from the factory disconnected.
2. Are your loads plugged into the battery backed outlets? All outlets on the UPS provide for surge suppression capability. Only some are battery backed.
3. Has the UPS indicated that it is being overloaded?
4. If the UPS is older (more than 3-5 years), it is entirely possible that the batteries are worn out and must be replaced.

Hi Ron,
Can you please provide the model and serial number of this UPS? They will be located on a white sticker, on the UPS.
Regards,
Tom
